It's About Time

In case you missed the traditions, festivities, and fireworks, or managed to escape the sales crushes, (I’m referring to physical crushing, not the kind you get when you see a nice-looking sales-assistant nor the emotional kind when the person in the queue has the last item in your size.) I am here to welcome you the 2012.

Ooh that sounds ominous! 2012. In case you have been living in a hole somewhere yes this year is this year the world as we know it will come to an end. (Hang on a minute wasn’t that meant to happen in 2000, or [insert almost any year here]? Well clearly not because we are all very much living.) No 2012 is the ‘new’ end of the world. You may have seen the very pitiful Hollywood interpretation of ‘entertainment’, which attempts to collate the ‘facts’ surrounding such predictions. A very short explanation is that those lovely ancient chaps from Central America, the Maya, made a particularly accurate calendar, and their calendar ends around the winter solstice on the 21st December 2012. In fact looking into it, 2012 looks to be an absolute plethora for end of the world prophecies. We have the following to look forward to: a potential solar maximum resulting in a magnetic pole shift. A galactic alignment, collisions/near collisions from strange asteroids/planets, and alien invasions. Looks like it’s going to be a busy year. Which is why I’m thinking of investing in one of these.

Anyone want to chip in?
